- After graduation (MBBS) from Medical College Rohtak in 1974, Dr. Jiloha obtained his post-graduate (MD) degree in Psychiatry from PGIMER Chandigarh in 1980 and subsequently, he undertook his post-doctoral training in Addiction Psychiatry and Child Mental Health from University of California Los Angeles (USA) and University of British Columbia, Vancouver (Canada) respectively.
- He joined Central Health Service (CHS) in 1983. With 32 years of gloriously academic and clinically fulfilling and satisfying professional journey. Formerly Chair and Professor Psychiatry Faculty of Medical Sciences University of Delhi, Dr. R.C. Jiloha served as Director Professor & Head, Psychiatry at Maulana Azad Medical College and GB Pant Hospital, New Delhi in the past. He superannuated from the government service in 2015. Immediately after retirement, his services were grabbed by Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences Jamia Hamdard where he served as Professor & Head of Psychiatry department for next five years before finally retiring in 2020. Forty years of professional journey covered by Dr Jiloha in the field of mental health is marked by several landmark milestones. He has provided leadership in medical education and produced more than 100 psychiatrists (MD-Psychiatry) and around 50 Clinical Psychologists (Ph.D Clinical Psychology) during his service tenure. He was the part of National Mental Health Program launched by the Government of India in 1982 to make mental health services available to all. He has more than 200 research papers to his credit and eight books which speak volumes of his interest and social commitment towards the community he hails from. His interest in Sociology of religion, organizations and institutions like caste is evident from his book:
