H.S. CHAHAR

  • He was born on 15th Oct, 1948 in the village Silani District Jhajjar, Haryana. He did his schooling up to 8th standard in his village school; 9th class from Govt. Higher Secondary School, Jhajjar, a town about 6 Km from his village where he used to walk to the school; Graduation from Govt. Nehru College, Jhajjar; and post-graduation in Economics from Panjab University, Chandigarh in the year 1971.
  • He was appointed as lecturer in Economics in Govt. Nehru College Faridabad. Qualified IAS in 1976 and was allotted Orissa Cadre. Initially posted as sub-collector, Tittagarh in Boangir District and subsequently assigned as G.M DIC, Project Administrator Tribal Development Agency, etc.; assigned responsibilities on deputation as Deputy Secretary in Department of Personnel and training in 1984. He went to Sussex University, England to attend a Course on Economics Development for a year the year 1987. Reverted to Orissa State Govt. in 1989 and was given the assignment of Collector and District Magistrate of Sambalpur District. A very important and challenging District, where all the 12 MLAs of Mayurbharuj District. (A tribal District) met the Chief Minister Shri Biju Patnaik and requested for his posting as Collector in their District to which the Chief Minister reluctantly agreed.
  • He was assigned the responsibility of Director Agriculture in the year 1992. His work was appreciated and Shri Biju Patnaik posted him as Secretary in Agriculture Department. He served in Agriculture Department for about 6 years and thereafter in transport and Commerce, General Administration, Housing and Urban, steels and mines, Rural and as Commissioner Sales Tax.
  • He effectively handled the relief work done during super cyclone of 1999 in Orissa and his work was appreciated even by Shri George Fernandavis, Defence Minister.  He retired in Oct, 2008 and settled down in Dwarka, New Delhi. He is guiding the SIAACBC to achieve the desired objectives for the welfare of the Nation.
